Honouring Women in the Labour Movement on International Women’s Day
Members and community leaders gathered to celebrate International Women’s Day at an inspiring event organized by the International Women’s Day Committee of the Peel Regional Labour Council (PRLC). The celebration brought together union members, activists, and community allies to recognize the achievements of women while reaffirming the collective commitment to gender equity and social justice.
The event served as both a celebration and a call to action, highlighting the important contributions women continue to make within the labour movement and across our communities. Participants had the opportunity to connect, share experiences, and engage in meaningful discussions about the ongoing challenges women face in the workplace and beyond.
Speakers throughout the program emphasized the importance of solidarity, leadership, and advocacy in advancing women’s rights. Their messages reflected the spirit of International Women’s Day—honouring the progress made while acknowledging that there is still important work ahead to ensure equality, respect, and opportunity for all.
The gathering created a welcoming space for reflection, learning, and collaboration. Attendees left the event energized and motivated to continue supporting initiatives that uplift women and strengthen the labour movement.
Sincere appreciation goes to the Peel Regional Labour Council and the International Women’s Day Committee for organizing such a meaningful and impactful celebration, and to everyone who attended to celebrate, connect, and commit to the work ahead. 🌸✊
