The
Harris government has changed the legislation regarding
workers getting help with WSIB claims from the Office of
the Workers Advisor. It is now only possible to use this
service if you do not belong to a union. This makes it
more important than ever that unions assist their
membership with WSIB
claims.
The Ontario
Provincial Council of Machinists and Local 2323 have
arranged for a compensation representative, Al Hodder,
to assist all Machinist Union members in Ontario with
their claims at a special rate. Any member who requires
assistance should first speak with the president of
their local lodge and get their written assurance that
the local will be responsible for any costs incurred
(forms are available from the representative). If we
wish to ensure that this service continues to be
available and to perhaps lower costs even further, I
would encourage all Ontario Locals to use this valuable
service for their membership when
required. |
