Manufacturing Crisis Meeting - March 10/2007

     On March 10, the Ontario Provincial Council of Machinists and the IAM Canadian Office brought together over 100 IAM activists from Locals across Ontario to hear about the Manufacturing Jobs Crisis and the changes that are needed to save our good jobs and communities. The Manufacturing Crisis meeting went over very well. We have now posted some information from this meeting on our new section to this website. Ferguson wins Labour award!

Cambridge, ON – Long-time Machinist member Derek Ferguson is the proud recipient of the 2006 Max Saltzman Award for outstanding contributions to labour and the community. The award presented annually by the Waterloo Region Labour Council, is named in honour of Max Saltzman, the former public school board trustee and long serving federal NDP member for Cambridge.

Ferguson, seen here on the left, was presented with the award by Council Vice President Jason Rees on March 13, 2007. Ferguson, a resident of Cambridge Ontario, serves as the Secretary Treasurer of IAMAW Local Lodge 2330 and as a vice president of the Ontario Provincial Council of Machinists as well as a member of the shop committee for his local at Dana Long Manufacturing where he is employed as a Tool and Die Maker.
